How do I become a member?
There are 2 steps to becoming an official club member:
1. Purchase AU membership – there is an option to buy full year “club access” membership for £70, which allows you to join clubs but not use the AU facilities aside from the wall, or full “Fitness+” membership which allows you access to the AU facilities (machines, weights) and classes for £160 for the full year. There’s also an option to buy semesterly membership if you’re JSA. Here’s the link to where you can buy membership: https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/sport/aboutus/membership/students/
2. Purchase Mountaineering Club membership. It’s £45 for the full year including access to the wall, or £35 for the full year if you only want to go on trips and won’t use the wall. https://onlineshop.st-andrews.ac.uk/product-catalogue/athletic-union/memberships/u niversity-of-st-andrews-mountaineering-club
When you come on a trip, the club will get a Mountaineering Scotland membership for you, which has loooooads of benefits including very cheap courses!
** We realise that total membership cost is steep – unfortunately there’s no way to get around the AU membership fee, but we want everyone to be able to participate. The university can provide financial support – email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org are great resources to reach out to for financial support. **
We have socials every week, usually pres at someone’s flat or drinks at a pub! Our social secs Olivia and Owain have some great ideas for this year, and there’s absolutely never any pressure to drink if you don’t want to. Look out for details about location / theme in the email and on Facebook events – cover photos will be masterpieces like these:
